Firecracker snapshot restore could succeed with a dead PCI device
Brief
A restored guest clock could also claim success after a failed time write.
Notes
87c1bc7bc6aa (Ilias Stamatis, 2026-08-17). Fail snapshot restore if a PCI virtio device cannot activate. The error used to be dropped, so restore still looked clean. The MMIO path already failed restore on that miss.
061b3e842ea4 (same author, same day). Propagate a failed clock write after restore instead of notifying the guest with a stale time. Balloon hinting-ack and kick failures that have no caller are logged.
Same push, 2026-08-20 17:49Z. Tests only: 8f6e93257b82. Cleanup: b40f757b3fbf unused PCI lock; 6e7cb66ae115 drops an unused-allow. No functional change intended on the cleanup.
FC still tagged v1.16.1. No GHSA. No CVE in the commits. Not 8df2e137 (eIBRS), not 2f8471fe (huge-page restore), not the CH restore cards.
